Minor League promotion A Minor League Baseball promotion on Friday led to one volunteer getting hit by a golf shot in an unfortunate area.

Minor League Baseball games often include strange on-field contests done by fans. But one on Friday was more nuts than most.

The St. Paul Saints hosted the Iowa Cubs (Triple-A affiliates of the Minnesota Twins and Chicago Cubs, respectively) played on Friday. One of the promotions included a fan chipping oversized golf balls into a group of 10 buckets.

Three volunteers were working during this promotion. One was putting a new ball on the mat every time the participant hit a shot. The other three were standing behind the buckets. None of the three people, behind the buckets were completely shielded by them, though. For two of them, that wasn’t an issue.

For the other one, though, it was. One of the attempted chips was pulled slightly left. The volunteer in question was right in the line of fire.

More specifically, his midsection was right in the line of fire.

Baseball fans reacted to the painful sequence.

We were also gifted with something we didn’t know we needed but now can’t live without, Jim Ross and Jerry The King Lawler calling the painful mishap.

For the rest of the season, we’d suggest that the Saints find different ways to kill time on the field with some new promotional packages.
