The Washington Nationals haven’t won too many games in the 2023 Major League Baseball season. However, the Nats just pulled off an absolutely hysterical walk-off win that had baseball fans buzzing.
The Nats and the Milwaukee Brewers squared off in an afternoon encounter in Washington, D.C. Outfielder Alex Call stood up against Brewers closer Devin Williams with the game on the line.
Call whacked the ball to the left side and ran off to first. Milwaukee third baseman Andruw Monasterio went home to throw the runner out at home. However, the ball eluded catcher William Contreras which opened the floodgates up.
The Nationals tied the game without a play and then Ildemaro Vargas sprinted in. Vargas made it in safely and the Nats won the game!
The Nats walk off the Brewers… with some help from the Brewers' defense.
Here's how it looked and sounded on the MASN Nats broadcast.

Milwaukee challenged the call, but it wound up being for naught. The Nats celebrated their win, while the Brewers were, unfortunately, on the wrong side of the coin. This also isn’t the first time that Milwaukee has been on the bitter end of defeat in Washington, D.C. They famously lost the 2019 National League Wild Card Game to the Nats, who then went on to win the 2019 World Series.
It’s a tough blow for the Brewers, who fell out of first place to the red-hot Cincinnati Reds. But the white-hot Chicago Cubs, winners of 9 of their last 11 games, are on their tail as well now.
The MLB world reacted to the hilarious walk-off win. Many came from excited Cub and Red fans.
