Orioles broadcaster Kevin Brown Credit: MASN

Despite having the best record in the American League, the Baltimore Orioles had an off night on Tuesday against the Padres, giving up 10 runs in the first five innings of play.

When baseball teams get blown out, especially early in the game, the announcers start to pivot to discussing things unrelated to the game to keep viewers entertained.

Orioles broadcaster Kevin Brown made the most of the situation, by explaining who Blink-182 is to his confused broadcast partner, Ben McDonald.

Brown was shocked to learn that McDonald had never heard of the group. McDonald said the name “sounded like a fighter jet” but he may know some of the songs if he heard them, leading Brown to first sing ‘All the Small Things’ before moving on to ‘I’m Sorry’ which finally jogged McDonald’s memory, likely due to Brown’s spot-on impression.

Ironically, Blink-182 frontman Tom DeLonge is a Padres fan who regularly attends games, though he didn’t seem to be in attendance Tuesday.

If things don’t work out for Brown as a broadcaster, he definitely has a future in a Blink-182 cover band. Perhaps McDonald can learn some more of the songs and join him as a backup vocalist.

Brown’s recent suspension from MASN and subsequent reinstatement led to plenty of reactions to Tuesday night’s moment, with fans praising Brown and joking about another suspension.
