Patrick Mahomes will reportedly be in attendance when the Texas Rangers host the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 1 of the 2023 World Series on Friday night.

And there doesn’t appear to be any question about where the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s loyalties lie.

A native of Tyler, Texas, whose dad, Patrick Mahomes Sr., spent the 2001 season pitching for the Rangers, the two-time NFL MVP will be pulling for his home state team. Considering his dad spent 12 years in the big leagues, the younger Mahomes is no stranger to the diamond, and he’s even a minority partner of the Kansas City Royals.

Mahomes’ attendance of Game 1 comes two days ahead of the Chiefs’ Week 8 matchup against the Denver Broncos. It should bring plenty of attention to a World Series matchup that some have considered lackluster, despite the amount of star power on both the Rangers and Diamondbacks’ rosters.

Based on the World Series format, this might be Mahomes’ only chance to attend a game in Texas. While the Rangers will also host Game 6, if necessary, next Friday, the Chiefs will be in Germany for a highly anticipated Week 9 matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

After news of Mahomes’ World Series attendance was announced on Friday, many took to social media to weigh in.
