The Oakland Athletics shocked everyone when it was revealed on Wednesday that they have signed a binding agreement to purchase land to build a new stadium in Las Vegas. While some are happy about this potential move for the Athletics, Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis is certainly not pleased about it.

The Raiders and Athletics were famously both in Oakland and the relationship between the two franchises during that time was certainly rocky, to say the least.

It seems like the bad blood between Davis and the Athletics organization is still there. When asked about the move by John Katsilometes of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, he didn’t mince words about the Athletics organization.

“I won’t forget what they did to us in Oakland. They squatted on a lease for 10 years and made it impossible for us to build on that stadium,” David told Katsilometes. “They were looking for a stadium. We were looking for a stadium. They didn’t want to build a stadium, and then went ahead and signed a 10-year lease with the city of Oakland and said, ‘We’re the base team.’

“They marketed the team as ‘Rooted in Oakland,’ that’s been their mantra through the whole thing,” Davis said. “The slogans they’ve been using have been a slap to the face of the Raiders, and they were trying to win over that type of mentality in the Bay Area.”

Mark Davis then added that his real grudge is with the A’s current management group.

“I have nothing against the players. I was an A’s fan, way back in the day, Reggie Jackson and all those guys. Reggie’s a good friend,” Davis said. “But not this management group, no.”

Davis may not be pleased about the move, but it seems to be moving forward whether he or anyone else in the Raiders organization likes it.
