Sean Murphy

Sean Murphy got off to a slow start with the Atlanta Braves, with only three hits in the team’s first ten games.

The slugging catcher made up for lost time Monday night, crushing his first home run with the Braves in a 10th-inning walk-off win over the Cincinnati Reds, 5-4.

That capped a three-hit, three RBI night for Murphy, who Atlanta acquired in a blockbuster offseason trade from the Oakland Athletics in a deal involving the Milwaukee Brewers.

Braves fans can expect more of that power from Murphy, who totaled 35 home runs the past couple of years playing home games in the cavernous, pitcher-friendly Oakland Coliseum.

Baseball fans shared their thoughts on Twitter, noting that Murphy is very good, and the Reds bullpen is … not good.
