The Boston Red Sox pitching staff did not have a strong showing on Friday night’s 28-5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. In fact, the only real bright spot on the mound came from superstar actress Sydney Sweeney.

The Euphoria star threw out the game’s ceremonial opening pitch wearing a custom Red Sox jersey in front of a packed Fenway Park crowd. Sweeney posted several pictures from the experience on her Instagram page, and she couldn’t help but troll the Red Sox a little bit with her hilarious caption.

“They should’ve put me in,” Sweeney’s caption read, in reference to the poor showing from Boston’s pitching staff.

While Sweeney’s comments are obviously a joke, she does have a point – the pitching performance from the Red Sox was nothing short of embracing. The team gave up a record 28 runs and allowed an inside-the-park grand slam in a lopsided loss. Toronto had an incredible 29 hits in the blowout win, including multiple hits from all nine players in the starting lineup. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. led the team with six hits on the day, tying the Blue Jays’ franchise record.

After that loss, it does seem that the Red Sox will need to make some improvements to its pitching staff. And based on what we saw, Sweeney may actually be an improvement, after all.
