Scott Richmond pitched in four big-league seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, and spent seven seasons in the minors, most recently as part of the Texas Rangers’ organization in 2014.
Now, the Canadian right-hander plays in Taiwan for the China Professional Baseball League’s EDA Rhinos, and on Saturday, he made an incredible catch on a rocket line drive that was headed straight at his head. He even turned it into a double play!
Here’s video of the play, which went from possible devastating head injury to awesome web gem and two outs:
You could argue that this play was as much the ball finding Richmond’s glove as it was his glove finding the ball, but it was a fantastic grab regardless. Also fantastic: The announcers’ reaction to the play.
But what’s up with the NFL on Fox theme at the end? That was interesting.
