There are multiple fun ways a baseball game can end, from the obvious (the walk-off homer) to the guilty pleasure (walk-off balk, anyone?), but Sunday’s Rangers-Mariners tilt featured a walk-off outfield assist.

Now, that’s the boring way to describe it. But setting the table, the Rangers trailed by three with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. With a man on third, Seattle’s Robinson Cano ripped a line drive down the first base line, into the right field corner. The runner scored easily, and Cano eyed an easy extra base, with the tying run coming up after.

But Texas rookie right fielder Nomar Mazara had other ideas. Take a look:

That’s just a fantastic defensive play. Off the bat it had double written all over it, and the announcers thought so too. You can’t even get mad at Cano, since that should be a double every time. But a well-played wall bounce and a perfect throw still got Cano. (That was an unfortunate rhyme.)
