When you win the World Series, you need to get a little creative when it comes to getting your team motivated to do it again. At least that is what it appears Kansas City Royals Manager Ned Yost was thinking when he smashed through four concrete blocks in front of his team on Tuesday.

Yost brought on motivational speaker Donnie Moore to help energize the defending champions, with Moore also ripping through license plates and phonebooks to highlight the overarching theme of “breaking things that seem impossible.” This is not first time Moore has lent his talents to the Royals for inspirational purposes, according to the Kansas City Star, he also gave a demonstration at Game 5 of the 2014 World Series and during last year’s spring training.

Moore has built a bit of a reputation for himself through his breaking-stuff speeches. He has done similar demonstrations for the Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, and the USMNT. Here he is doing his thing with a baseball bat, à la Bo Jackson.

Yost did not escape Tuesday’s demonstration unscathed, but to his credit remained upbeat, saying, “You gotta power down through it, that’s for sure. Nothing to it.”

I wonder if FanGraphs took into account Moore when they released their predictions. Based on last year’s results he’s worth a pretty big boost.
