The New York Yankees drastically underperformed this year, missing out on the postseason for the first time since 2016. This led to many calling for manager Aaron Boone to be fired, but it doesn’t seem like that will ultimately be happening.

Boone has been with the Yankees since the 2018 season, and he has largely had a good amount of success during his tenure with the team. The Yankees have won more than 90 regular season games in four out of Boone’s six seasons with the organization.

While the regular season success has mostly been there, Yankees fans are always looking for postseason success as the true indicator of how successful a season truly was. And Boone and the Yankees have continually failed to get over the hump in the American League during the postseason.

This season was described as a “disaster” by Yankees general manager Brian Cashman. But apparently, it wasn’t enough of a disaster for the organization to part ways with Boone.

According to Andy Martino of SNY, Boone is expected to return as the Yankees manager in 2024.

Fans had plenty to say about this decision on social media.

This decision likely means that the organization feels like its issues this season were more about the roster construction of the team along with injuries that derailed them.

Only time will tell whether that is the right call or not, but there are seemingly plenty of fans who aren’t exactly thrilled that there weren’t more dramatic changes after their rough year this season.
