When the NLCS was over, the Arizona Diamondbacks covered themselves in champagne and beer.

The defeat over the Philadelphia Phillies to head to the World Series wasn’t the end of the celebration, however.

D-backs starter Zac Gallen took to social media despite the celebratory goggles and made sure someone was taken care of who had been chomping at the 2023 All-Star using a keyboard as a weapon.

Gallen spoke to the media on Thursday saying this will be the only time he will talk about it.

“This is the only time I’m going to address that,” Gallen said. “But for me that was just growing up in that area and knowing how the Philly fans operate, I don’t know, there was a lot of mentions that people in my DMs and stuff like that, I figured — they were talking junk. So I just figured if they want to talk junk to me, I’ll say one back.

“And I feel like being from there, I knew how to hit them the hardest. So that was my thought. But, yeah, that’s the end of that.

This is a new thing. That’s over with. It’s Thursday, the day before the World Series. So moving on.”

So here’s what happened …

A Phillies fan responded to Gallen celebrating on Twitter/X:

“My you were 0-2 against the Phillies,” the person wrote. “You got rocked in both games.”

Sure, Gallen didn’t have his best stuff against the Phillies. He surrendered nine runs on five homers across 11 innings in two starts.

The fan has since privated his account, but that didn’t stop Gallen responding.

“Make sure to get those tix for your next game,” Gallen wrote.

Then he posted a screen shot of how to purchase spring training tickets for the Phillies in 2024.

Gallen grew up in South Jersey and was raised in a Philly sports family. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan growing up, but he knew how those fans operated. And well, the fan got a taste of his own medicine.

He’ll get the start for Game 1 of the World Series which begins on Friday at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
