It’s safe to say that MMA legend Conor McGregor is used to taking risks and putting his body on the line – that’s what professional fighters do, after all – but even he wasn’t exactly prepared for what happened when he took his bicycle out Friday morning.

Conor McGregor revealed on Friday that while he was riding his bike, he was involved in a terrifying collision with a car. McGregor said that the driver of the vehicle was totally blinded by the sun and couldn’t see him riding his bike on the same road. As a result, he was struck by the vehicle at full speed.

It was a horrifying incident that could have resulted in tragedy, but McGregor said his training and fast reflexed saved his life.

“Got a bang of a car just now from behind. A sun trap, the driver couldn’t see me. Full speed straight thru me. Thank you God, it wasn’t my time. Thank you wrestling and judo also. Having an awareness on the landing saved my life,” McGregor said on Instagram.

McGregor was mostly unharmed aside from some ripped pants. His bike, however, was totally destroyed.

Despite the scary incident, McGregor had a pleasant encounter with the driver of the car, who apologized profusely and even gave him a ride home. McGregor clearly had no ill will toward the driver, saying “all good, all good” and “don’t worry about it.”

“God bless … I’m still here,” McGregor said. “Thank God. That’s all that matters.
