Even by Ben Simmons’ standards, Tuesday night’s game against the Boston Celtics had some terrible lowlights.

The Brooklyn Nets guard hit only one of five shots and scored five points coming off the bench in a 118-110 loss.

Simmons added six rebounds and eight assists, so numbers-wise, this was an average game for the former No. 1 overall pick (he averages 6.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6 assists per game).

But several of Simmons’ missed shots and a terrible turnover left X (formerly Twitter) buzzing well into Wednesday.

Simmons’ struggles on and off the court have been well documented in recent years, and in some ways, Tuesday night was just more of the same. Many fans feel sympathetic for him and wish him well. That forgiving spirit isn’t what drives viral posts on social media, however, and many fans were not kind to Simmons after his bad game.
