The Los Angeles Lakers will open their postseason on Sunday against the Memphis Grizzlies. So, LeBron James wasn’t prominently featured on Saturday as the NBA Playoffs got going. The same could not be said, though, for his son, Bronny James. He was featured in a high-profile commercial.

Vin Diesel’s iconic Fast & Furious character, Dominic Toretto narrated a commercial for the upcoming movie, Fast X commercial. Shots of previous Fast & Furious movies were shown along with Bronny working on his game.

Near the end of the commercial, Toretto said that “the real power of a family is in the legacy it creates, passing the keys to the next generation.” While Toretto shares that message, Bronny catches a pair of car keys, nods his head, gets into a car and takes off.

Bronny’s appearance in the commercial drew a mixed reaction. Some fans liked it. Others wondered exactly why Bronny was prominently featured in a commercial for Fast X.

Given the narrative of “building off of a legacy” but taking the keys and going down your own path, it’s easy to see why Bronny would be featured. He’s definitely in the process of doing — or, at least, attempting to do — the same thing.
