Confetti delay in Hawks-Celtics NBA Playoffs matchup.

Sunday’s Game 4 between the Atlanta Hawks and the Boston Celtics featured a brief pause in the action after a strange malfunction at State Farm Arena.

Play was halted in the first quarter when confetti began falling from the rooftop, which was hilariously detailed by TNT’s Ian Eagle on the call of the game.

“We have some confetti,” said Eagle. “There is a legitimate confetti issue right now. At first, it looked like one piece of confetti, but it has multiplied like rabbits.”

Many around the NBA world took notice of this weird stoppage of play, joking that the Hawks were eager to celebrate on Sunday night.

What makes this stoppage of play even funnier is that the Hawks were down by 11 points at the time of the confetti coming down.

Unfortunately for them, things didn’t get much better for the rest of the half. The Celtics were able to maintain their lead and take a 12-point advantage into the half.

It goes without saying how important this game is for the Hawks as they look to claw their way back into this series against Boston.

They were able to take Game 3 in Atlanta, but still trail the series 2-1 to Boston after the Celtics were able to win the first two games at home.

Hawks fans will surely hope that they can redo their confetti drop with a victory on Sunday. To this point, it doesn’t look like it will be the case.
