While the Phoenix Suns came into the Christmas Day game against the Denver Nuggets having dropped two straight, there was good news. Star guard Devin Booker, who had missed the last three games with an injured groin, was returning to action. Unfortunately for Booker and the Suns, that return did not last long.

Booker played four minutes before returning to the sidelines. Not long after, the Suns announced that Booker had a left groin injury and would not return to the game.

This news was, of course, upsetting to a lot of people.

Upon Booker’s reaction on the bench, Gerald Bourguet of PHNX Sports “That shot of Devin Booker frustrated on the bench was rough. Hope it’s nothing too serious with that groin injury.”

NFL Draft analyst Jon Ledyard, meanwhile said, “Great job being smart with his injury.”

Others had more succinct reactions. The Twitter page for MrOverUnder simply said “Welp” while another Suns fan echoed the sentimets likely shared by a few others, saying “Christmas ruined!”

While no injury news is ever good, this isn’t necesarilly dire. More will be known in the aftermath of the game. But until more information is out there, it’s not time to panic. Booker and the Suns were always going to be cautious in his return, particularly if he was feeling sore in the same part of the body that caused him to miss the three games.

In his four minutes of action, Booker was 1-for-2 with two points.
