Fred VanVleet wrote a touching farewell post Sunday to the Toronto Raptors and their fans.

Rap star and Raptors fan Drake quickly blew up VanVleet’s post with a barbed troll job.

VanVleet agreed to a three-year, $130 million contract with the Houston Rockets Friday, leaving behind only memories after seven seasons in Toronto. The All-Star guard shared a farewell on Instagram, noting in part, “Words can’t do justice to how thankful I am to the city that watched me grow from a young kid praying for a chance to a NBA CHAMPION, all-star, and a father of 3! I am forever indebted to the franchise that gave me a shot when no one else would.”

Nice thoughts. And then Drake went and trashed that warm, fuzzy feeling in an instant.

“My look alike…the love is forever,” Drake wrote in a response to VanVleet’s post. “Thank you for your character and your contributions over the years. The city will never forget! Good luck with everything on the Guangdong Dragons… I mean, the Rockets.”

The Rockets could certainly beat the Dragons of the Chinese professional league, but they didn’t beat many NBA teams last season, finishing 22-60. Maybe VanVleet and other offseason additions will change that.

VanVleet actually responded to Drake, commenting, “Relax.”
