Draymond Green is never going to shy away from sharing his opinion or telling you how he feels about a certain issue.
The Warriors star forward is not a fan of Black History Month, but not for the reason you may think.
Green has an issue with the timing. The fact that it takes place during the shortest month of the year rather than being taught year-round is what Green is trying to comprehend.
“Black History Month, at some point, can we get rid of it? … Why do we gotta keep getting the shortest month to celebrate our history?” Green asked following Golden State’s 123-105 win over the Trail Blazers on Tuesday.
It doesn’t sit right with him, nor do governors who want to take that history out of the curriculum. Green took an indirect shot at Florida’s Ron DeSantis, who rejected a proposal that would’ve allowed African American Advanced Placement courses to be taught in Floridian high schools.
“We’ve got governors who want to take our history out of schools, and I’m not going to be the fool to say, ‘Yeah, we can celebrate it for 28 days.’ So at some point, I’d like to get rid of it. We’re making all these changes in the world — can’t talk about these people, can’t talk about those people, can’t say this, can’t say that.
“At some point, it’s time to get rid of Black History Month. Not get rid of Black history, like they’re trying to do. But Black History Month? Nah, teach my history from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, and then do it again. And then again. And then again. And then again. That’s what I’d like to see.”

Green’s point that Black history should be taught year-round shouldn’t be controversial. He’s merely advocating for change so he can be represented from Jan. 1-Dec. 31. and not just for 28 days in February.
