The NBA suspended Dillon Brooks after the Grizzlies guard went over the limit on technical fouls this season.

Brooks exceeded 15 technical fouls after he received one on Friday night against the Denver Nuggets. After recording his 16th, he must serve a one-game suspension. As a result, he will miss the Grizzlies’ matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

“Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks has been suspended for Sunday’s game vs. Clippers after picking up his 16th technical foul of the season,” Shams Charania of The Athletic tweeted.

Brooks has been a key contributor for the Grizzlies this season. He’s averaged 14.4 points through 57 games this season. But of late, he’s struggled to stay consistent. Through nine games in February and two in March, he’s averaged less than 10 points per game.

The suspension now, obviously, won’t exactly help matters. It certainly won’t help a Grizzlies team that’s going through a rough stretch. Off-court issues caused Memphis to keep Ja Morant away for at least two games.

Additionally, Brandon Clark tore his Achilles and will miss the remainder of the season.

The Grizzlies are currently the No. 2 seed in the NBA’s Western Conference. They are six games back of first-place Denver. With these recent hits though, it will prove interesting to see if they can cling to that. Sacramento is right on their tail, one game back of the No. 2 seed.
