Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young lost his temper Saturday and it cost him.
Officials ejected Young in the third quarter of Atlanta’s game against the Indiana Pacers after he threw a hard pass at referee Scott Wall during a timeout.
Wall managed to catch the pass, but called a technical on Young. The high-scoring guard had been upset because seconds earlier he’d had a 3-pointer disallowed when he was whistled for a technical for tripping Aaron Nesmith.

The second technical, which earned him the ejection, is Young’s 15th this season. One more technical earns him an automatic one-game suspension.
A curious thing happened after Young’s ejection — the Hawks broke away from an 84-84 tie to win, 143-130.
NBA fans predictably bashed Trae Young for the incident. As young athletes learn at an early age, you never lay hands on a game official, and hurling a ball at one is a bad idea as well.

Hawks have pulled away, and strangely played their best basketball after Trae Young was ejected.

Keep telling me Trae Young is mature and isn’t part of the problem.
