The NBA world is eager to watch Thursday’s Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat. However, NBA commissioner Adam Silver dropped a bombshell about controversial Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant that is seemingly taking away attention from the highly anticipated game.
Morant was recently seen on social media toting a gun for the second time in the past few months.
This led to a ton of backlash, with the NBA star most recently posting a number of cryptic social media posts on Instagram.

Among those who called out the two-time NBA All-Star was Adam Silver, who said that he was “shocked” by the second gun video.
He revealed in that statement earlier this month that the NBA would be opening an investigation into the video and Morant in general. And it seems like they may have found something in their investigation.
Silver discussed Morant’s situation ahead of Game 1, saying that the league has discovered a “fair amount” of additional information about the star point guard.
“We’ve uncovered a fair amount of additional information,” said Silver via ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. “We probably could have brought it to a head now, but we’ve made the decision that it would be unfair to these players and these teams to announce that decision in the middle of this series.”

He later added that any disciplinary action towards Mortant will be announced shortly after the conclusion of the NBA Finals.

His attempt at keeping the focus on the NBA Finals is commendable. It has seemingly had the opposite effect.
Many are now speculating about what the new information could be and what his potential punishment will look like.

We will see soon enough what Morant’s punishment ends up being. However, it could be an unprecedented one considering Silver didn’t just make the announcement right away.
