The Dallas Mavericks blew a 27-point lead, at home, to the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday, and head coach Jason Kidd had a clear message for his team afterward.
“Grow up.”
A disappointed Kidd shared that blunt message with reporters after the stunning 111-108 loss.
“I’m not the savior here. I’m not playing,” Kidd said (via ESPN). “I’m watching, just like you guys. As a team, we’ve got to mature. … We’ve got to grow up.”
Granted, the players deserve some of the blame. It’s not easy to blow a 27-point lead, especially against a team laying bricks from the 3-point line (the Lakers were 6-of-34 from behind the arc).
Still, many NBA fans believe Kidd deserves a hefty share of the blame, and they quickly responded to his “Grow up” message to the Mavs.

What do Dallas fans except? They’ve built a team that plays 0 defense. Can’t get a stop when they need it so they’re not gonna win games when Luka and Kyrie shoot 18-44.

Not a Mavs fan but this man has some of the worst rotations in the league😂

Pretty sure it all starts at the top aka the “head coach”

That Jason Kidd actually admits he just sits there and watches the game, like the rest of us, even though he’s the head coach, is remarkable to me. Amazingly honest admission.
