Kyrie Irving got his wish on Sunday, as the Brooklyn Nets traded the All-Star starter to the Dallas Mavericks.

Shams Charania reported that the Mavericks acquired Irving and, in the process, left the Los Angeles Lakers in the dust. Irving desired a trade for a while, and some thought he was headed to LA to join LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Instead, the Mavericks and Mark Cuban pulled a fast one on Sunday as they acquired the multi-time All-Star and former NBA champion point guard.

Dallas acquired Kyrie Irving in exchange for future draft picks and players Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith. Markieff Morris was also involved in the trade and will be sent to Dallas. The picks are from 2027 and 2029, so a long way away.

Although it hasn’t been made official yet, all indications are the deal will be done shortly. Once the news dropped that the Lakers weren’t going to get Irving, naturally, NBA fans took great joy in the team missing out on the NBA superstar. Boy, are they having fun at the Lakers’ expense.

Laker fans aren’t the only ones who may be feeling the pain. Los Angeles Clippers fans may not be too happy either if the rumor of the trade is true.

The trade has not yet been made official, but that will only take a matter of time.
