Russell Wilson and Patrick Beverley could be awarded NBA championship rings later this year.
According to a report from Chris Haynes of TNT during Game 4 of the Los Angeles Lakers–Golden State Warriors series, Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka has made the decision to award all players who made the roster throughout the Lakers’ season with a championship ring if the Lakers go on to win the championship next month.
“If the Lakers were able to win the whole thing, win a championship, I was told by a high-ranking source within the organization that they would extend a championship ring to all players who were on the roster at any point during the regular season,” Haynes said.
“I was told that was a protocol and a system that was put in place by Rob Pelinka when he took over. It’s just a way to make sure they understand that they value them even though they didn’t make it from beginning to end of the season with the Lakers.”
The Lakers defeated the Warriors, 104-101, on Tuesday night behind Lonnie Walker’s incredible 15-point fourth-quarter performance. The Lakers currently lead the defending champions 3-1. The next game is Wednesday in San Francisco at 10 p.m.
The NBA world was quick to react to the major decision:
Lol at the Lakers making ring plans this early.
One of the easiest teams to root against in sports. https://t.co/tc5FgNOdHK

The job is far from finished.
Let's not talk about rings right now. Finish breakfast. https://t.co/scxW6zYsj4

Imagine if the Nuggets were like “Bones will get his ring” while we’re in the second round😂 The clowning would be insane and warranted https://t.co/MnGjLjn4Wt
