While Anthony Edwards celebrated the release of his first Adidas signature shoe over the weekend, the Minnesota Timberwolves star is now making headlines for an unexpected reason.

On Sunday, an Instagram model named Paige Jordae shared a series of screenshots showing alleged text message conversations between herself and Edwards. In the series of texts, the 22-year-old shooting guard can be seen encouraging Jordae to get an abortion, eventually offering her $100,000 to do so.

Jordae ultimately agreed to go through with the abortion, with Edwards purportedly asking her to send him videos of her taking the pill as confirmation. Jordae also posted a screenshot of a $100,000 wire transfer she received from Edwards.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Edwards addressed the controversy, issuing the following statement:

“I made comments in the heat of the moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man. All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them. I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time.”

As news of the controversy surrounding Edwards spread, many took to social media to weigh in.
