NBA champion Nikola Jokić has all the reason in the world to celebrate right now. But after the Denver Nuggets won their first NBA championship in franchise history, the two-time league MVP confessed he wanted to return home to his horses. The statement, a lighthearted one obviously, generated some discussion. But during Thursday’s Nuggets’ victory parade, Jokić reversed course in hilarious fashion.

“You know that I told that I don’t want to stay and parade,” Jokić said. “But I ——- want to stay and parade. This is the best day of my ——- life!”

The reversal elicited a huge reaction from the Nugget fans attending Thursday’s Denver festivities. The two-time MVP was their guy anyway, but he’s only going up to the summit now.

Around Twitter, plenty laughed at what he had to say, and had other remarks as well.

I’m really glad to see this,” noted NBA writer Matt Moore on the Hardwood Paroxysm account.

Basketball finally matched horses and family in Jokic’s Love Of Things, and it’s beautiful,” said Nuggets fan Gordon Gross.

“Worst thing for the rest of the league was Jokic learning the joys of a championship parade,” said user Prince Grimes.

“Glad he’s finally having a good time, guy was acting like winning a championship was a chore,” said user TJ.

No telling on what will happen now that Nikola Jokić is feeling lighthearted about winning championships now.
