As of this past Sunday, there remains no timetable for Ja Morant’s return to the Memphis Grizzlies following an Instagram video streamed over the weekend that showed Morant displaying a firearm at a nightclub. Morant is away from the team after a string of incidents has the 23-year-old All-Star potentially facing legal trouble.
While the sports world has piled on Morant, there are some that have offered him advice. Those like Plaxico Burress. Not only was Burress in Morant’s shoes before, but he paid the ultimate price. The former NFL wide receiver saw his successful career hit pause after an accidental shooting led to him facing weapons charges and spending two years in prison.
Appearing on Fox Sports’ “The Carton Show” with radio and TV personality Craig Carton on Tuesday, Burress offered a word of advice to Morant.

“It can all just be taken away,” Burress said. “You can taint whatever your legacy may be…If I was speaking to him, it would just be, if you can’t learn anything man, just learn from me. Just make better decisions because you really don’t want for him to be having that label moving forward being that he’s so young.
“He has the opportunity to be the face of the NBA. He’s that great of a player. You want to continue to see him mature as a person, as his game is getting better. I think that all just comes with time and being around the right people.”
