Friday’s Summer League matchup between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Houston Rockets featured the debut of No. 3 overall draft pick Scoot Henderson, who impressed early on in the game. However, he was forced to prematurely exit the game with an unfortunate injury.

Henderson had a difficult matchup with No. 4 overall pick Amen Thompson on the other side. However, it clearly didn’t bother him much early on in this contest.

The G League Ignite product showed off nearly every aspect of his offensive game, finishing the first half with 13 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists.

Things couldn’t have been much better for Henderson in the first half, but unfortunately things did not go to plan for him in the second half of the game.

He would leave the game with a right shoulder injury in the third quarter, quickly being ruled out for the rest of the game.

It’s unclear exactly when or how the injury took place for Henderson. Fans are hoping that this is simply a precautionary decision by the Trail Blazers not to bring him back into the game.

TNT’s Chris Haynes offered an update on Henderson’s injury, detailing that he will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder and that there “is optimism that it isn’t a dislocation”.

It’s obviously disappointing to see Henderson get hurt in his first game. However, he showed some very promising skills in his debut, and it should still be looked at as a success as long as the injury he sustained isn’t significant.
