Quin Snyder

Trae Young scored 38 points, including the game winner, to lead the Atlanta Hawks over the Boston Celtics Tuesday, but after the game he had to share the spotlight.

Atlanta head coach Quin Snyder earned huge applause on Twitter for helping the Hawks overcome a 12-point Celtics lead in the final 5:24 en route to a 119-117 victory.

Young knocked down the game-winner from 30 feet with a couple of seconds remaining.

The Hawks avoided elimination, cutting their series deficit to 3-2. While Young earned deserved attention for his performance, Twitter showed plenty of love for Snyder.

Hired in February to help take the Hawks and Young to another level, Snyder has earned praise for his work with Young. Even Young’s father, Ray, noted recently that Snyder is “the best thing to happen” to him in the NBA.

That’s good news for Snyder, given Young’s reputation earlier this season as a “coach killer.”

Turns out Snyder does other things well, like drawing up plays, as he showed in the rally against the Celtics. Twitter took notice, sending “Quin Snyder” viral on the site after the game.

Leading the way on Twitter? Young’s father, who reiterated his praise for Snyder, tweeting “No disrespect to anyone before but Quin Snyder is the best thing to happen to my son since he arrived in Atlanta draft night!”
