Jose Calderon may have lost his chance at winning an NBA championship, but maybe that’s worth making $415,000 for two hours of not even working.

The Warriors cut Calderon this week in order to create a spot for Kevin Durant’s replacement, veteran swingman Matt Barnes, but will still give him his season’s remaining salary.

Calderon has had a wacky year. Last offseason, he was traded from the Knicks to the Bulls. A few weeks later, Chicago shipped him to the Lakers. On Sunday, he secured a buyout from the Lakers to sign with the Warriors.

But then Durant sprained his MCL, and Golden State’s priorities changed. But they still honored their verbal commitment, signing Calderon for two hours before waiving him to make room for Barnes.

Here’s how that conversation probably went down:

Bob Myers: Well I’m sorry, there’s just no way we can keep you on.

Jose Calderon: I don’t even really work here.

Bob Myers: That’s what makes this so difficult.
