Heading into Tuesday, the odds were still pretty split that Class of 2023 quarterback Arch Manning was deciding between Texas, Alabama, and Georgia. Following the news that quarterback Eli Holstein has committed to play for the Crimson Tide, the odds appear to have shifted drastically.
There has been speculation in recent weeks that Alabama was dropping out of the Arch Manning sweepstakes. However, they have continued to recruit him and were still considered “in the mix.” However, the notion that was circulating was that Nick Saban’s team wouldn’t wait around forever for Manning to make his decision.
That appears to be the case now that they’ve received a commitment from the No. 8 quarterback in the Class of 2023. And while Alabama was briefly considered the favorite in On3’s recruitment predictions, they’ve essentially fallen off the board in their updated rankings.
According to On3, the Manning sweepstakes are now a battle between Texas and Georgia, with the Longhorns holding a slight advantage. Texas is currently slated with 51.7% odds to land Manning while Georgia is right behind at 45.3%. Alabama has fallen all the way down to 1.2% while Ole Miss gets less than a one percent chance to land the legacy recruit.
Manning has talked openly about how much he’s enjoyed visits to both Austin and Athens campuses, though he’s routinely said he still doesn’t know where he’ll play.
