Twin sisters Hanna and Haley Cavinder have recently become some of the most iconic and popular female college athletes, playing together with the Miami Hurricanes this season and growing an absolutely massive social media following in the process. That’s why it came as a shock to many when they announced that they would not be using their final season of eligibility. But now we know why.
After announcing their decision, the Cavinder twins joined NBC’s The Today Show on Thursday morning and revealed their next steps.
“I think after playing all four years together and deciding not to take our fifth year, we decided there’s more opportunities besides basketball,” Haley Cavinder said on the show, according to On3. “Obviously it’s such a difficult position to be in, because we wanted to take our fifth year and continue to play, but I think it came down to just optimizing all the opportunities that we have ahead of us.”
The biggest of those opportunities appears to be with the WWE.
“We love the WWE. Their fanbase, their sport, the fitness side of it. That fits Hanna and I’s brain, and aligns great with us,” Haley Cavinder said. “So yeah, we’re very excited about the future with them.”
We’ll have to see exactly what that opportunity includes.
