The LSU Tigers faced off against the Florida Gators in a winner take all Game 3 in the College World Series. They suffered a historic defeat in Game 2 of the series, but bounced back in a big way to earn a National Championship.

A number of questions emerged after their 24-4 loss to Florida in Game 2 of the series. Has the momentum shifted too far to overcome in this series? How would LSU respond and try and stop Florida’s potent offense? Would we see star pitcher and potential No. 1 pick in the 2023 MLB Draft Paul Skenes take the mound?

In Game 2 of the series, it was actually LSU that got on the board first, followed by an onslaught from Florida. This time around it was the opposite. Florida struck first with a two-run home run in the first inning from potential top-five MLB pick Wyatt Langford.

LSU quickly responded in the top of the second inning, scoring six runs on five hits to help turn the momentum of this series.

Things only got worse for Florida from here, as they were unable to take control of the game again. There would be no need to use Paul Skenes out of the bullpen in this game on only three days’ rest, thanks to LSU’s offense putting up 18 runs to cruise to an 18-4 victory.

Many fans at home took to social media to congratulate LSU on their seventh College World Series Championship in program history.

This win marks Division 1 history for LSU, becoming the first team to win a baseball and basketball national championship in the same year.
