Ole Miss defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche somehow only escaped with cuts after falling out of a fourth-floor hotel window, but the incident has caused more than self-inflicted injuries – it has brought criminal charges against Nkemdiche.

It was reported yesterday by Zack Klein of WSB-TV in Atlanta that a small amount of marijuana was found in Nkemdiche’s room, and now the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting he’s been charged with marijuana possession. “Approximately 7 rolled marijuana cigarettes” were found to be in his hotel room, a police report said.
“We are still learning about the matter, but obviously Robert’s well-being is our greatest concern,” coach Hugh Freeze said in a statement released by an athletic department spokesman.
The AJC reports a spokeswoman for the hospital Nkemdiche was taken to declined to comment, citing patient privacy laws.
Nkemdiche was reported to be in stable condition, and the reason why he fell out of the window still isn’t fully clear.
He was the consensus no.1 recruit in the country before committing to Ole Miss. He’s expected to a top-five pick in the 2016 NFL Draft should he declare, although his stock could potentially take a hit given the charges.
