Western Michigan and Buffalo played football on Saturday night. Or, at least their offenses did.
The teams combined for 139 points, with Western Michigan ultimately coming out on top 71-68 in SEVEN overtimes.
The 139 points are a new FBS record, topping a Syracuse-Pittsburgh game last year that had 137 points. And it’s the fourth FBS game to have seven overtimes.
Here’s video of the highlights (I just fast-forwarded to overtime for you):

And with that, Buffalo is the only team in FBS history to score 68+ points and lose a game.
Two new FBS records set in Western Michigan / Buffalo:

-Most combined points (139)— Paul Myerberg (@PaulMyerberg) October 8, 2017
The loss is a particularly rough result for Buffalo quarterback Drew Anderson, who threw for 597 yards, seven touchdowns, and no interceptions. What more does he have to do (maybe be a two-way player and join Buffalo’s defense)?

Included in this circus was a Western Michigan player’s sister running on the field to celebrate his touchdown in overtime.
