The Green Bay Packers finally acquiesced to Aaron Rodgers’ trade demands earlier this summer when they dealt him to the New York Jets in the most anticipated trade of the offseason.
Rodgers and Packers executives have exchanged salvos in the media over who ultimately was responsible for Rodgers wanting out of Green Bay.
Despite the apparent bad blood with team leaders, Rodgers by all accounts has remained on good terms with his former teammates like offensive lineman David Bakhtiari.
The public got a glimpse into the longtime friendship this week when Rodgers posted a picture of him and other people at a Proactive Sports Performance gym. In the caption, Rodgers asked where Bakhtiari was.
Bakhtiari retorted that he was “too busy training and not posing for a photo” via his Instagram account.
Rodgers then delivered his brutal message: “Probably laying around and getting fat,” the quarterback wrote.
Bakhtiari did not immediately respond to the jest. As Wisconsin Sports Heroics noted, it’s not as if Rodgers himself would have enjoyed playing behind thin offensive linemen.
While Rodgers’ accolades are well known, Bakhtiari is a two-time first-team All-Pro and a three-time Pro Bowl selection. The Packers drafted him with the 109th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
