When New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury during his first game with the team, most thought it would end his season. But it seems that he could be set to make a pretty miraculous return.
According to league insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, there is a chance that Aaron Rodgers could return to practice as early as next week.
“The improbable is coming closer and closer to becoming a reality,” Rapoport said on Sunday. “There is a chance, there’s a chance that Aaron Rodgers – still trying to recover… there is a chance that he practices this week. That has been his hope.”

“I would say more likely, the next week. But his return to practice is coming. But his return to practice, at least, is coming,” Rapoport said. “One source said ‘he just needs to bring us his doctor’s note,'” Rapoport said. “In other words, he needs to show that he is not doing damage to himself by being out there. And if he can protect himself, he will practice and potentially will play.”
If he does play this season, Rapoport said that he is planning to make his return for the team’s Christmas Eve game against the Washington Commanders.
“My understanding is that he is targeting the Dec. 24 game against the Washington Commanders to come back. That would give Aaron Rodgers three games to come in and play for the Jets. Their playoff hopes are dire, they are fading, but Rodgers still wants to come back somehow and play.”
It’s pretty insane news for Rodgers, considering that most expected his injury to end his season, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.
Jets are 4-7 man. I don’t think anyone’s watching the Aaron Rodgers Watch anymore. https://t.co/6fgPMtcvYT

Will we ever be free from this tedium? Dude wouldn't need this much attention if he had a single healthy adult relationship in his life https://t.co/SbceF9eOGQ

Sending a 40 year old out there fresh off an Achilles injury behind that OL is malpractice https://t.co/ffpTBvjrlh

This is purely an ego thing for Rodgers
There’s absolutely zero point in him putting himself at risk by returning to play meaningless games for a team that’s not making the playoffs
He just wants to do it so he can say “I told you I would come back faster than anyone believed” https://t.co/TO3filzt3E

Listen to @7BOOMERESIASON this morning and he pegged this perfectly. Any attempt by Rodgers to come back this season is purely selfish. It helps no one but him. https://t.co/6LOnEKGYlf

We’ll have to see whether or not Rodgers returns this week.
