The Green Bay Packers aren’t eliminated from playoff contention yet, but they’re getting pretty close. Still, until the day comes when they are officially eliminated from the 2022 NFL Playoffs, Aaron Rodgers will continue playing quarterback for the Green Bay Packers this season.

Already playing with a broken thumb, Rodgers left Sunday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles in the third quarter after suffering what was described as an oblique injury. After the game, Rodgers told reporters that he had injured his ribs and was going to undergo an MRI on Monday. If those results came back negative, he would continue to play.

Even though the odds are extremely against the Packers making the playoffs at this point, Rodgers told reporters that he wants to be out there so long as there’s even the slightest chance.

“As long as we’re mathematically alive, I’d like to be out there,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers, who has been mired in a miserable season by his standards, finished Sunday night going 11-of-16 for 140 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He was replaced by Jordan Love, who kept the Packers in the game, though they eventually lost 40-33.
