When Aaron Rodgers went down with an Achilles injury during the first drive of the season with the New York Jets earlier this year, most assumed it would be a season-ending injury, given how players have recovered from those types of injuries in the past. But Rodgers has continuously refused to rule out a potential return this year, and that was the case once again this week.

During his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, Aaron Rodgers once again insisted that he could still return and play for the New York Jets again this season provided that his recovery continues to go well and the Jets continue to be in postseason contention – both of which he expects.

“If I have a great week this week and next week, that could be accelerated,” Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show. “If we’re not in it in three or four weeks, that could take it a different way. But I expect us to be in it and I expect to come back.”

This is particularly shocking news as it comes the same week that NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that it was “most likely” that Rodgers would not return to the team until OTAs in 2024. As a result, it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

Rodgers has had many, many chances to walk back the notion that he could return this season, but he hasn’t done it yet.
