With Derek Carr signing with the New Orleans Saints on Monday, the Jets shifted their attention to star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has appeared to be New York’s top target as the new league year approaches. There now seems to be some momentum on that front as late Monday night, ESPN’s Trey Wingo reported that sources told him that Rodgers “had conversations” with the Jets, and Rodgers was “open to the idea of going to NY.”
The important caveat here is that since Rodgers is still under contract with Green Bay, the Packers would have to grant the Jets permission to speak with the 39-year-old. Otherwise, it would be considered tampering. That appears to have happened, as he was able to have some conversations for the first time with the Jets, who could very well be his only suitor if he decides to continue his playing career elsewhere.
While Rodgers recently emerged from his “darkness retreat,” he still hasn’t decided on his playing future. Even though he previously indicated that he would make a decision sooner rather than later, time is not on his side, as the start of free agency looms.
The NFL world was buzzing over the latest update on Rodgers, as a resolution appears to be coming to a head.
You have to think most of the trade compensation is agreed upon if GB is letting Aaron Rodgers speak with the #Jets.
Now the Jets need to sell Rodgers on why he’s the missing piece for the team.
This is where having Nate Hackett should really help.

I can't think of a worse athlete-city/team match than Aaron Rodgers and the Jets and now it's going to happen and as someone in the content business all I can say is thank you god.

I shouldn’t be surprised by the need to explain this, but just because Aaron Rodgers says his side isn’t leaking news to the media doesn’t mean the Jets & Packers aren’t. Multiple media sources are reporting Rodgers & the Jets spoke yesterday, including The Athletic. It’s legit.

Also, Jets still hot in their pursuit of Aaron Rodgers. Lots of silence on that front but still expecting the Jets to come away with the HOFer.

If Aaron Rodgers doesn't come to the #Jets now he will have completely screwed us over
But if he does he'd be the most talented QB to ever wear a #Jets uniform & it would be so amazing
Such conflicting emotions❗

As @BobMcGinn reported at https://t.co/pczqGU4Z8g three weeks ago, the Packers are done with Aaron Rodgers. This AM — as first noted by @wingoz — the QB spoke with the #Jets. Green Bay won't get the haul it could've in 2021 & 2022, but this was always the best trading partner.

The #Jets and Aaron Rodgers did speak yesterday, per sources, as @wingoz said.
Rodgers still hasn’t made a decision about his future yet though.

Do it.#Jets receive
*Aaron Rodgers#Packers receive
*WR Corey Davis
*2023 2nd round pick
*2024 pick (1-3, pending conditions. A first rounder if we win it all)— The Buffalo Jet Fan (@BuffaloJetFan) March 7, 2023
The #Jets and QB Aaron Rodgers spoke on Monday, per @wingoz. Rodgers is open to the idea of joining the Jets, but nothing is considered imminent at this point and time. But we have some movement.
