During the first week of the season, Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor seemed to get away with lining up off the line of scrimmage. As a result, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid now thinks he’s being needlessly targeted by officials.

Taylor has been flagged for lining up off of the line of scrimmage several times over the past few weeks, drawing a penalty for illegal formation. But Andy Reid thinks it’s unfair and inconsistent.

“They have an eye on him,” Reid said of the officials according to Pro Football Talk. “It all started on the Thursday night game. You look around the league, and it’s just not consistent right now. That’s the important thing.”

Reid felt even more strongly about this after watching film on the game, believing the calls against Taylor are inconsistent with how officials are calling the penalty throughout the league.

“Now that I’ve had a chance to look at it, I’ve even doubled down more on what I said yesterday,” Reid said. “They’ve got an eye on him. They better keep an eye on everybody else too. It’s to the point of being ridiculous. They got their point proved now out there to the world, so let’s make sure we’re staying consistent.”

We’ll have to see whether or not Taylor keeps getting these penalties throughout the season.
