Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL. There’s no denying that the Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback holds a special talent, that few if any others at the position possess. But that doesn’t mean Mahomes isn’t striving to reach new heights.
Yes, Mahomes won the MVP and Super Bowl MVP last season, but he’s also looking to make sure that the Chiefs became the first team in nearly two decades to repeat as back-to-back Super Bowl champions.
As Mahomes continues to get better and better, it’s hard to find flaws in his games. But players are always growing, especially at the quarterback position. That’s at least according to Chiefs coach Andy Reid, who may know a thing or two about coaching the position.
“With quarterbacks, the work’s never done,” Reid said in his Tuesday press conference via Pro Football Talk. “I’ve mentioned it before, it’s like being a farmer. You just keep on cranking. And we’re always trying to give him new challenges with things and he loves that and loves to attack those types of things. So, that’s where it’s at.
“But there are always things to work on. Fundamentally, there’s things to work on. He spends a tremendous amount of time at that, he puts a lot of effort into it. And, obviously, the new plays.”
It remains to be seen if Mahomes can continue to grow and top his success from the season before.
