We have heard very little in regards to when Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray could return to the field after his torn ACL last season. Murray finally broke his silence on the matter on Wednesday, setting an incredibly bold goal on his return date.
His ACL injury happened back in December, meaning that it would be nearly a nine-month recovery for him if he were to take the field for the Cardinals’ Week 1 game against the Washington Commanders.
Some may see this as an uncomfortably quick recovery for a quarterback like Murray that uses his legs so much. Regardless, Murray detailed in an upcoming video on the Cardinals team YouTube Channel that this is a goal that he has set for himself.
“When you look further down the line, it seems like we got a long way to go. Ideally, I want to be back by Week 1,” Murray said via ArizonaSports.com. “That’s the goal. At the end of the day, that’s the goal, but I can’t really look that far ahead. Got to take it one day at a time.”
Fans took notice of this goal and were pretty surprised by how risky it could be for him to return for Week 1.
Has he heard of a man named Robert Griffin the Third?

Nine months is around the time that it typically takes to return for most players, but some teams are far more cautious when it comes to the quarterback position.
Murray is pretty clearly the quarterback of the future in Arizona, so they likely won’t force him into action in Week 1 unless he is very clearly at 100 percent with no injury risk lingering.
