Tampa Bay quarterback Baker Mayfield dealt with a lot of on-field drama often throughout his NFL career. But the Buccaneers QB now has to deal with off-field drama. A very costly saga at that, to the tune of $12 million.

KXAN in Austin, Texas, reported that Mayfield and his wife, Emily Mayfield, petitioned seeking information on $12 million that was supposed to be used in an investment firm his parents work at.

KXAN reported, “The petition was filed Tuesday in the 250th District Court, and attorneys are asking the defendants — Camwood Capital Management Group, Camwood Ventures, Texas Contract Manufacturing Group, Unitech, Apex Machining, and Lor-Van — to turn over financial records from 2018-2023 and for witnesses to provide oral depositions to help the Mayfields figure out where their money has gone over the course of five years.

‘Petitioners simply do not know if their money has been properly and competently invested, has been stolen or otherwise misappropriated, or something in between,’ the document stated.”

The report stressed that the petition isn’t a lawsuit and that Baker and his wife, Emily, are just seeking information. Granted, it feels incredibly understandable to be stressed over the disappearance of even $120, let alone $12 million. Thus it’s easy to reconcile with the position taken by the Mayfields.
