Following Wednesday’s announcement that three-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marlon Humphrey would be sidelined indefinitely with foot surgery, the Baltimore Ravens have signed Ronald Darby to a one-year contract, the team announced Thursday evening.

The Ravens are the fifth team Darby has played for since being drafted by the Bills in the second round of the 2015 draft.

Darby finished second in the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year voting following the 2015 season, losing to fellow cornerback Marcus Peters. After one more season in Buffalo, Peters was traded to the Eagles where he recorded four tackles in Philadelphia’s 41-33 win over New England in Super Bowl LII.

Following a stop in Washington, Darby signed with the Denver Broncos in March 2021 where he spent the past two seasons. Darby tore his ACL in Denver’s 12-9 loss to Indianapolis in Week 5 of the 2022 season and was subsequently released by the Broncos earlier this year.

In his eight-year career, the former Florida State Seminole and 2012 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year has recorded 373 tackles and eight interceptions. He had been busy so far during training camp, visiting with the Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans before inking a deal with the Ravens.

In addition to Humphrey’s injury, Baltimore’s other projected starting cornerback, Rock Ya-Sin, has been held out of practice recently with a knee injury, although it’s not believed to be serious.
