Bears Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Through the first three weeks of the NFL season, few things are going right for the Chicago Bears’ offense.

But while most of the focus has been on the play of third-year quarterback Justin Fields, that also rings true for wide receiver Chase Claypool.

Through three games, the former Notre Dame standout has compiled just four catches on 14 targets for 51 yards and one touchdown. Asked on Friday if he felt he was being put in a position to best showcase what he can do in head coach Matt Eberflus’ offense, Claypool didn’t deny his dissatisfaction.

“No,” the 25-year-old said after thinking and shaking his head.

Claypool likely isn’t the only player in the Bears locker room who feels that way, as Chicago enters its Week 4 matchup against the Denver Broncos ranking 29th in the NFL in yards per game and 31st in passing. In three games, no Bears player has tallied more than 11 total catches, with Claypool and Darnell Mooney tied for the second-most catches among wide receivers, trailing D.J. Moore’s 11 receptions.

Following a Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Fields seemingly called out the team’s coaches, claiming that he believed too much coaching was partially responsible for him playing robotically. The Ohio State product, however, later clarified his comments, insisting that everything was fine between himself the Chicago staff.
