The Chicago Bears made a significant move ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, bringing in former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Chase Claypool, who will hope to be a big addition for second-year quarterback Justin Fields.

Chicago was desperately in need of another impact pass-catcher, and Fields seems to be very excited about the team’s new addition on Wednesday.

He was asked about what Claypool could bring to the team moving forward, and Fields said that he sees this as a sign of the Bears front office looking to win right away.

“I was excited, of course,” said Fields. “He’s a playmaker. Big body, athletic, fast, great 50/50 ball catcher. Any time you trade for a player like him, you’re just trying to make the team better.”

Many Bears fans saw this as a huge step forward for the team, and a sign that the Bears’ front office believes in Fields to be the quarterback of the future in Chicago.

While this may be true, Fields added that he is not concerned about the future and that all of his focus is on the team’s upcoming matchup against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

“I’m not worried about the next 5-10 years, I’m worried about this week,” Fields added.

While the Bears sit at just 3-5 on the season thus far, Fields has shown flashes of brilliance for Chicago this year, and is seemingly showing more progression to his game than other quarterbacks in his draft class thus far such as Zach Wilson and Trevor Lawrence.

Claypool should certainly help the Bears’ offense, and he could drastically help Justin Fields as he continues to progress this year.
