The Chicago Bears are largely expected by most draft experts to select former USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. And on Tuesday, even more fuel was added to that speculation after Bears head coach Matt Ebeflus raved about a recent meeting with Williams at his Pro Day.

In a conversation with Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times, Eberflus shared that he loved what he saw from Williams at his Pro Day.

“The biggest takeaway is that you can see the arm talent on the film and you can see it there in person,” Eberflus said via Finley. “What I loved to see was the interaction with the other players. You can see that, and we talked to every person that was on that team. At the Senior Bowl we interviewed them — and interviewed them at the Pro Day. We talked to those guys at the dinner and you can certainly see those players love him and respect him — and what he’s brought to that program.”

He later called a dinner that he had with Williams and his USC teammates “great”, which is certainly notable as it speaks to Williams’ character.

Williams has been picked apart consistently as a prospect, both as a player and a person off the football field. But it sure seems like the Bears and Eberflus are quickly falling in love with Williams.

Williams is set to meet with the Bears again next week as we get closer to the NFL Draft. So it will sure be interesting to see if there is further information emerges from that meeting.
