While the health of Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin is obviously the primary concern of the entire NFL world after a terrifying situation led to Hamlin receiving CPR on the field and being taken from the field by ambulance, the league still had to make a decision about the status of the crucial game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Bills after indefinitely suspending it

In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, the NFL revealed that the game will not be resumed this week after the Damar Hamlin incident and that the league has made “no decision” about the possible resumption of the game in the future, according to Adam Schefter.

“The NFL continues to be in regular contact with the medical team caring for Damar Hamlin, and also the Bills and Bengals organizations and the NFL Players
Association. After speaking with both teams and NFLPA leadership, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed the clubs today that the Bills-Bengals game will not be resumed this week,” the league said in a statement. “The NFL has made no decision regarding the possible resumption of the game at a later date. The league has not made any changes to the Week 18 regular season schedule. We will continue to provide additional information as it becomes available.”

Hamlin’s health is the league’s only concern right now. But with the Bengals and Bills both vying for home-field advantage and a first-round bye in the playoffs, this could be a tricky scheduling situation for the NFL.
